The Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources in Syria announced a reduction in the delivery time for gas cylinders to 25 days instead of 45 days.
Public Relations Officer at the ministry, Ahmad Suleiman, stated on Thursday, March 20, that two centers for direct sales of household gas cylinders have been opened in Damascus, in addition to a direct sales center in Aleppo, aiming to improve the distribution services of household gas and meet citizens’ needs more quickly.
Suleiman added that the Ministry of Oil has set the value of the gas cylinder at 125,000 Syrian pounds in these centers. If the time to exchange the gas cylinder exceeds 35 days and the citizen has not received a notification message, they can visit these new centers to exchange their empty cylinder immediately at the specified price.
Earlier, the Ministry of Oil had reduced the delivery time for household gas cylinders from 80 days to 45 days in mid-February, allowing citizens to change the authorized distributor weekly if the service provided was inadequate.
Since the beginning of February, Syrian provinces have witnessed a significant increase in the quantities of household gas, following the completion of maintenance at the gas plant in Latakia and an increase in its production capacity, in addition to the arrival of tankers carrying household gas to the oil terminal operated by the Syrian Oil Transport Company in Baniyas city.
The recent agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has also contributed to an increase in the quantities of gas coming from the northeastern fields of Syria.
The Director of Oil Facilities Relations in Tartus, Tamer Akar, announced on Thursday, March 20, the arrival of the first oil tanker at the oil terminal in Baniyas after liberation, noting that the tanker “Aquatica” carried 99,771.977 metric tons of crude oil.
Qatar has also begun supplying gas to Syria to support the electricity sector, with the interim Damascus government pledging to improve the electricity situation across all Syrian provinces shortly after the arrival of Qatari gas supplies to operate electricity plants in Syria.
Minister of Electricity in the interim Damascus government, Omar Shakrouq, stated on March 19 that the ministry plans to increase electricity supply to eight hours daily after receiving quantities of fuel oil.
Minister Shakrouq highlighted the ministry’s plan to ensure electricity for industrial cities around the clock.
He mentioned that Qatari gas will contribute to generating an additional 400 megawatts of electricity, which will improve electricity supply by an increase of two to four hours daily, positively impacting the daily lives of citizens and supporting vital sectors in Syria.
