Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani announced his participation in the World Economic Forum “Davos 2025.”

Al-Shibani said, “I will be honored to represent Syria for the first time in its history at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.”

The minister explained that he would convey the vision of the new Syrian administration regarding the future of Syria and the aspirations of the Syrian people.

The conference is scheduled to take place from January 20 to 24, with the participation of US President Donald Trump in a virtual meeting.

Leaders and heads of governments from 60 countries will also participate in the conference, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who will deliver a speech and answer questions from journalists.

Among the issues on the conference agenda are tensions in the Middle East, the climate crisis, increasing geopolitical and economic uncertainty, trade tensions, and how artificial intelligence can help improve people’s lives.

The Prime Minister of Qatar, the Saudi Foreign Minister, the UN Special Envoy to Syria, the Israeli Prime Minister, and the Palestinian Prime Minister are also expected to participate in the conference.

Expectations indicate participation from around 3,000 leaders from more than 130 countries, in addition to 350 government representatives, including 60 heads of state and government.

International organizations will also be represented by the participation of the UN Secretary-General, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, the NATO Secretary-General, and the Director-General of the World Health Organization, as well as the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme.

Moreover, more than 1,600 entrepreneurs will participate, including over 900 from among the world’s leading CEOs and chairs of boards from World Economic Forum members and partners, along with more than 120 global innovators and tech leaders from startups transforming industries, in addition to over 170 civil society leaders and social sector representatives from global unions, NGOs, religious, and indigenous communities, as well as experts, university presidents, research institutions, and leading think tanks worldwide.

The Davos Forum is a common name for the World Economic Forum (WEF), an international non-governmental and non-profit organization based in Switzerland, which was first held in 1971 and was known as the “European Management Forum,” with the name changed to its current form in 1987.

The forum is held annually at the Davos resort in the Swiss Alps, where leaders from various fields gather to discuss global challenges and future opportunities, with a focus on climate change, the global economy, technological development, and social justice.
