Three fighters from the Syrian opposition factions were killed and another was injured as a result of an ambush in the city of Latakia in western Syria today, Saturday, December 14.

The media office director of Sham Legion, Saif al-Raad, told Enab Baladi that three members of the Sham Legion were killed, and another was injured, following an ambush near the town of Mazra’a in the countryside of Latakia.

There are currently no clarifications or additional details regarding the incident, while reports are circulating about higher numbers of casualties and injuries, without any official confirmation of their accuracy.

Two narratives are currently being circulated: the first is that the ambush was carried out by remnants of Syrian regime forces, and the second is that opposition fighters tracked individuals stealing from a military barrack in the area, and when they entered the barrack, they were met with gunfire.

After the arrival of the opposition factions in Damascus, the cities of Latakia and Tartus experienced a state of confusion, calm, and anticipation, with fears of violations against them. Some thefts and assaults on shops and individuals accused of committing “thuggish acts” occurred.

On December 12, the Military Operations Administration prohibited affiliated factions and civilians from firing weapons in the coastal region of Syria and confiscating any property, equipment, or weapon.

They also warned residents in the area against approaching or entering public institutions and military barracks under the risk of accountability and punishment.

The commander of the Military Operations Administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa (Abu Mohammad al-Jolani), stated that there would be no amnesty for those involved in torturing and executing detainees.

On December 11, al-Sharaa confirmed that the Military Operations Administration would pursue all those involved in killing detainees, calling on countries to hand over those fugitives to achieve justice.

On December 10, al-Sharaa said that the Military Operations Administration would not hesitate to hold accountable the criminals, murderers, and security and army officers involved in the torture of the Syrian people.

The Military Operations Administration will announce “List No. 1”, which contains the names of senior individuals involved in torturing the Syrian people.

They will offer rewards for information about senior army and security officers involved in war crimes, affirming their commitment to tolerance for those whose hands have not been stained with the blood of the Syrian people.

The Military Operations Administration has issued many statements and instructions since launching the “Deterrence of Aggression” operation, whether for its fighters on how to deal with prisoners or for regime soldiers wishing to defect, or for regime soldiers and elements, successfully neutralizing regime soldiers from combat through these statements and instructions.
