Unidentified persons targeted a Russian military patrol in the northern Daraa countryside, injuring one of its troops.

The correspondent for Sama TV, a pro-regime channel, Firas al-Ahmad reported that on Friday, October 11, a bomb exploded while a Russian patrol was passing through the Inkhil-Jasim road in the northern countryside of Daraa.

Firas al-Ahmad added that one trooper of the Russian police and two of the Syrian regime forces, who accompanied the patrol, were slightly injured.

Another blast followed, for a second explosive device was detonated on the same road. It, however, targeted the Syrian security forces and caused no casualties.

The Journalist and the human right activist, originally from Daraa city, Omar al-Hariri, posted on Facebook that the Russian patrol was targeted in the Jaidor area, between Jasim and Inkhil in the northern countryside of Daraa, adding that the blast was a double attack, carried out in two successive stages.

The Russian forces have not yet commented on the injury of the trooper.

In July 2019, unidentified persons used an explosive device to target the Russian military patrols in the eastern countryside of Daraa for the first time since the latter took over the province in 2018.

Russia carries out military patrols throughout Daraa province, seeking to maintain the security status in the area, given the popular unrest which resulted from the practices of the regime forces and the ever-deteriorating security and living conditions.

The Syrian regime forces have been made into a constant target for such attacks in Daraa following a year from the settlement deal, which led the opposition factions out of the province in July 2018 under a Russian auspice.

In two of the most notable blasts, a bus boarding militants of the 4th Armoured Division was targeted and a military official, ranking as a colonel, was attacked on July 17, 2019.
