The “Response Coordinators” team has monitored the internal displacement of more than a hundred thousand civilians in Northern Syria in a week, driven out of their areas by the bombings of Assad’s forces and Russian allies.

According to the Coordinator’s report on Monday, May 6, 2019, the number of internally displaced people from April 29 to the day has amounted to 103539 persons, about 16619 families.

The total number of people, who have been internally displaced between February 2 and May 6, is more than 317868 persons, the equivalent to 51022 families.

The team expressed its concern that the number of IDPs in the area might go beyond the 600 thousand mark, taking into consideration the volume of the military operations in the area.

In the past two weeks, Russia and the Syrian regime have intensified their bombing of the demilitarized areas, causing deaths and injuries among civilians.

According to the report, the number of casualties since the military campaign was launched on February 2 to May 6, has reached more than 364 civilians, according to their location the distribution is thus: In Idlib, 261 civilians, three of whom are children, Hama bore witness to the death of 93 civilians, including 22 children, eight civilians, three children included, passed away in Aleppo, two others died in Latakia, of whom is a child.

The group called on relief organizations to take urgent action to save the local population in Idlib governorate and provide the necessary humanitarian needs.

The UN Security Council also called for an emergency meeting to discuss the current situation in northwestern Syria and to work to find an immediate mechanism to stop the military operations.

Last Saturday, the “Response Coordinators” has launched a campaign called “Be of Help” to mobilize support to lift some of the sufferings that people displaced from the targeted areas are facing.

On April 26, 2019, the Assad’s forces and their Russian allies intensified their military campaign, following the 12th round of the “Astana” talks, during which the guarantors Russia, Turkey and Iran, failed to agree on the formation of the Syrian constitutional Committee.

Turkey, one of the guarantor states of the deal on Idlib, has not so far made any statements on the escalation of violence, while it continues to run its patrols under the “Sochi” deal, it signed with Russia in September 2018, which provides for the foundation of the demilitarized zone.
