Rojin..A Syrian Girl Works to Support Eight Siblings (Video)
‘Theirworld’ Charity Organization launched a documentary about child labour, a phenomenon which became prevalent among Syrian children due to war.
The video is one in a four-video series, which the organization will launch gradually this month. The videos aim to examine the reality of Syrian children and how they have lost their right to education.
The third film of the series, published on Wednesday (October 25th), tells the story of a Syrian girl from the city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobanî), who was forced to leave school and work in agriculture to support her family.
Rojin and her family work in a nearby farm from 6 am. to 7 pm. “They give us only a little time to rest, but I have to work to support my family,” said she.
“I’m very scared for their future,” she said in the video because her younger siblings are illiterate and they do not have access to education.
The United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) stated in a report issued last Tuesday that 264 million children around the world do not receive a formal education.
Syrian children’s loss of their right to education remains at the heart of international debate when, in February 2016, world leaders pledged to help Syrian children continue their education.
However, data indicate a lack of commitment with the drop out of two million Syrian children at home and abroad from school.
“I miss my school and my friends in Syria. It was my dream to become a lawyer and to stand in the courtroom to fight for justice,” said Rojin at the end of the video.
‘Theirworld’ Charity Organization issued a documentary on October 11 about a Syrian girl who married at the age of 12 and has two children in a campaign against school dropouts.
The organization also documented the reality of the Syrian family’s separation, in the second video, which was issued on the 18th of this month.
