According to information relayed by the correspondent, Mouaz, who had a disability, was walking through a neighborhood in the village during the incursion when Israeli forces opened fire on him. They then took him, wounded, to Tal al-Ghaithar , an Israeli military gathering point north of Wadi al-Ruqad (southern Syria).
The correspondent added that the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) informed the Syrian Civil Defense of the young man’s death and handed over his body, which was later taken to Nawa National Hospital (Daraa governorate).

Incursion and Detention in Quneitra
Israeli incursions into southern Syria continue, sometimes accompanied by the detention of Syrians.
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported that the Israeli army detained Firas Qassem, a young man from Taranja (Quneitra governorate, southwestern Syria), during an incursion and searches of several homes the previous day. He was later released.

Demonstrators in Raqqa (northern Syria) condemn the Israeli army’s killing of a young Syrian man with a disability, October 23, 2026 (Enab Baladi/Ahmad al-Hamdi).
The correspondent reported at the time that a UNDOF patrol arrived at the location where Israeli troops were deployed, but the Israeli army prevented it from passing because the road was closed.
As the Israeli patrols withdrew, UNDOF personnel entered the location where the young man had been detained to assess the situation and examine the circumstances and reasons behind the Israeli patrols’ detention and search operations, according to the correspondent.

Residents are calling on UNDOF to fulfill its role in preventing these repeated Israeli violations in Quneitra, rather than limiting its activities to monitoring and submitting periodic reports to UN headquarters.
More Than 450 Incursions
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) documented at least 453 ground incursions by Israeli forces into Syrian territory, along with the killing of 69 people and 162 cases of arbitrary detention, between December 8, 2024, and October 6, 2026.
In a report published on October 8, the network said the incursions were concentrated primarily in Quneitra and Daraa governorates and, to a lesser extent, Damascus countryside. It noted that the figures represented the minimum number of cases it had been able to document, drawing on its violations database, field monitoring, witness testimonies, and open and official sources.

According to the report, Israeli operations evolved during the documented period from limited movements near the separation lines into repeated incursions into inhabited villages and towns. These were accompanied by killings, injuries, detentions, and home raids, as well as attacks on media, medical, and humanitarian workers, including Syrian Arab Red Crescent personnel.
Under its classification of cases by the party responsible, the network attributed 12 cases, including one involving a child, to Israeli occupation forces, accounting for approximately 92.3% of the total.
