The Israeli army targeted the vicinity of Taranja village in Quneitra countryside (southwestern Syria) and the surrounding farmland with more than ten mortar shells this morning, Monday, 11 May.

The Quneitra Media Directorate said the shelling coincided with the establishment of a military checkpoint at the entrance to the town of Jubata al-Khashab in northern Quneitra countryside, involving around 20 soldiers and several military vehicles.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent said Israeli forces fired artillery shells toward farmland surrounding the villages of Taranja and Jubata al-Khashab from the northwestern side.

An Israeli army patrol also advanced to the main entrance of Jubata al-Khashab from the southern side with several vehicles and set up a checkpoint to search civilians.

On Sunday, an Israeli patrol carried out an incursion from the al-Adnaniya base toward Ruwayhina village in central Quneitra countryside, setting up a temporary checkpoint in the area and searching passersby before later withdrawing. No information was reported about arrests, while Israeli warplanes flew over the southern Quneitra countryside.

As part of the ongoing Israeli incursions, the Israeli army advanced on 9 May into Sida village in southern Quneitra countryside, during which it arrested a cattle herder while he was in the area. He was released after several hours of detention, with no information reported about the reasons.

Israeli army incursions continue in Quneitra countryside, amid search campaigns, raids, arrests, the installation of road checkpoints, and expansion operations that included bringing prefabricated rooms to eastern Tal al-Ahmar.

Arrests and Incursions

The Israeli army arrested a herder amid incursions in Quneitra countryside on 8 May.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra said an Israeli army patrol detained the young man Ghaith al-Asoul from the village of Sida al-Hanout in southern rural Quneitra, during the patrol’s incursion around the village from the direction of Abu Ghaithar gate.

He explained that the arrest took place while the shepherd was grazing cattle on the western side near the barbed wire.

An Israeli army patrol also advanced into the village of al-Razaniyah in southwestern rural Quneitra, the correspondent added.

The Syrian news agency, SANA, said the Israeli army force that advanced into the area consisted of six military vehicles. It moved toward the village of Sida al-Hanout, stopped for a period west of the village, blocked the path of several livestock herders, and detained one of them.

This came as part of the policy of pressure practiced by the Israeli army against residents of the area, according to SANA.

SANA noted that the force advanced toward the village of al-Razaniyah and set up a checkpoint at the village junction leading to Sida Golan, before withdrawing from the area.
