Israel launched three airstrikes on the General Staff building in Damascus on Wednesday, July 16, according to Enab Baladi’s monitoring.

An Israeli security source told Army Radio that the Israeli Air Force had struck the headquarters of the Syrian General Staff in Damascus.

The repeated strikes come amid ongoing Israeli pledges to protect the Druze community in Suwayda.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel’s warnings to Damascus have ended and that “painful blows” would follow.

“We will continue operating forcefully in Suwayda to destroy the forces that attacked the Druze—until they withdraw,” Katz said.

As of this report’s publication, Syrian state media and official sources had not commented on the latest airstrikes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also addressed Israel’s Druze citizens, saying, “Druze citizens of Israel, the situation in Suwayda and southwestern Syria is extremely dangerous.”

He added, “The Israeli army is acting, the air force is acting, and other forces are acting. We are working to save our Druze brethren and eliminate the regime’s militias.”

The airstrikes come as Syrian government forces continue clashes with local factions in Suwayda, which the Syrian state has labeled “outlaw groups.”

Earlier today, Defense Minister Katz warned that unless the Syrian army withdrew its forces from Suwayda, Israeli escalation would continue.

“As we’ve made clear and warned,” Katz said, “Israel will not abandon the Druze in Syria and will enforce the disarmament policy we’ve adopted.”

He added that the Israeli military would continue targeting Syrian regime forces until they withdraw and warned:

“The level of our responses will soon increase if the message is not understood.”

On the ground, Syrian government forces have reportedly regained full control of Suwayda city, while local factions have withdrawn to the southern and eastern countryside of the province.
