An Israeli strike targeted a residential building in Mashrou Dummar in Damascus - March 13, 2025 (SANA)
Israeli aircraft attacked a residential building in the al-Tarasat neighborhood of Mashrou Dummar area in the capital Damascus today, Thursday, March 13, according to a correspondent from Enab Baladi.
The official Syrian news agency (SANA) confirmed that Israeli aircraft targeted the residential building in Mashrou Dummar in Damascus.
For its part, the Israeli Channel 14 stated that the attack targeted what it described as the “command room of the Islamic Jihad terrorist group” in Damascus.
Other Israeli media reported that the strike hit a Palestinian figure and that the site was being used to plan terrorist acts.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated, “Wherever there is organized terrorist activity against Israel, (the leader of the extremist Islam group Abu Mohammad al-Jolani) will find the air force flying over him and attacking him.”
He added, “We will not allow Syria to become a threat to the State of Israel.”
Local accounts circulated video recordings from the attack site showing injuries resulting from the strike.
Enab Baladi contacted the al-Mowasat Hospital in Damascus to verify reports of injuries arriving there, but they denied this.
Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee published a video showing the targeting of the residential building.
He stated that the Israeli army “will not allow terrorist organizations to establish a presence in Syria and act against the State of Israel, and will work vigorously against any attempt at such a presence.”
He added that Israel will continue to target “Palestinian terrorist organizations everywhere necessary and will continue to operate to protect the citizens of Israel.”
The Syrian government has not yet issued an official statement regarding the number of casualties or the extent of the damage.
Adraee had previously published two videos of the Israeli Air Force attacking dozens of Syrian sites, involving 22 warplanes and dropping 60 types of munitions on Wednesday, March 13.
Adraee stated that the air force targeted dozens of objectives, including radars and monitoring devices used to create aerial intelligence, command centers, and military sites containing weaponry and military vehicles belonging to the former Syrian regime in southern Syria.
The Israeli strikes were carried out without an official Syrian announcement regarding the nature of the targeted sites or the extent of the damage caused by the strikes.
In a brief report by the Israeli Channel 14, it was stated, “Terrorist organizations are still present in Syria and have established themselves to some extent, and Iran is doing everything it can to equip them.”
The report suggested that it would not be surprising to find maps of Israeli settlements in Syrian settlement hotspots ready for attack in the Golan Heights, “where there are factions from the Islamic Jihad and Hamas and other terrorist organizations.”
Those “terrorist organizations” remain in Syria, according to the report’s description, and have stabilized to some extent, still seeking to harm Israel, and the military establishment knows that Iran is doing everything it can to prepare them.
