Royal Jordanian Airlines announced today, Thursday, January 16, the resumption of its flights to Damascus International Airport at the end of this month.

According to the Jordanian channel Al-Mamlaka, Royal Jordanian will be one of the first airlines to resume direct flights to Damascus Airport, with a frequency of four flights a week.

Royal Jordanian will operate its direct flights between Damascus and Amman, in addition to daily land transportation services provided by Royal Jordanian for the past two years between Queen Alia Airport and Syria.

By next April, Royal Jordanian plans to increase operations to daily flights, as the flight time of only 25 minutes between Amman and Damascus is the shortest air route from Damascus, providing a quick and easy connection to the Royal Jordanian network.

Travelers wishing to fly to Damascus can book their flights starting today through the airline’s website or through travel agents, with the airline serving over 45 destinations in Europe, America, the Middle East, and the Arabian Gulf.

Royal Jordanian’s CEO, Samer al-Majali, confirmed the airline’s commitment to being one of the first companies to provide air connectivity for the Syrian market with the rest of the world.

Al-Majali stated, “Amman has long been a gateway connecting Syria to the world, facilitating travelers from the United States and Europe to reach the region. We are pleased to announce the resumption of flights to Damascus with four weekly flights.”

The announcement of the resumption of flights from Jordan to Syria comes just hours after a similar announcement from Turkish Airlines, which will begin flights to Damascus starting January 23, after a halt that lasted more than ten years.

Bilal Ekşi, General Manager of Turkish Airlines, mentioned in a post on the “X” platform on January 15, that the company will operate three flights a week to Damascus.

According to what was monitored by Enab Baladi, the first flight on January 23 was fully booked, while the second flight is scheduled to depart on January 26, with a business class ticket costing 37,000 Turkish lira (approximately $1,070), while the economy class for this flight has also been fully booked.

As for the next month, ticket prices will start at 5,000 Turkish lira (approximately $140).

Damascus International Airport resumed operations on January 7 after a month-long halt following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

Cham Wings Airlines also announced the return of its flights to and from Damascus International Airport on January 7.

Qatar Airways announced the resumption of its flights, with three weekly flights, becoming the first airline to resume flights to Syria after the fall of the regime on January 2.

In recent days, several planes have landed at Damascus airport, either carrying aid provided by Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, or foreign and Arab delegations coming to Damascus to meet the new administration.
