Israeli fighter jets carried out an airstrike on the Syrian-Lebanese border today, Friday, November 8.

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that the airstrike targeted the border village of Hosh al-Sayyid Ali, located north of the Lebanese Hermel region.

The agency did not mention whether the strike resulted in human casualties, and the official and local media of the regime did not cover the news of the strike until the moment this report was prepared.

On its part, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based rights organization, stated that Israeli warplanes executed an air raid targeting a border point near the village of Hosh al-Sayyid Ali in the countryside of al-Qusayr southwest of Homs, with no information about human losses reported so far.

The Syrian-Lebanese border has repeatedly come under attacks from Israeli warplanes, which are attempting to cut off supplies to Hezbollah. Israel has intensified its airstrikes in recent weeks, targeting both official and unofficial crossings between the two countries.

Last Wednesday, Israeli warplanes struck the Jirmash-Qleed al-Sabaa crossing in the Hermel region on the Lebanese side of the border, which is an unofficial land crossing.

Along the Syrian-Lebanese border, there are illegal crossings that have been used in recent years for smuggling people, goods, and Captagon drugs, in addition to six legal crossings used for commercial transactions and civilian transit.

Israel has previously spoken about “imposing a military blockade on Lebanon” to prevent the smuggling of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah by land and air, according to the Times of Israel.

It has also targeted crossings on the Syrian-Lebanese border and blocked flights coming from Iran via Beirut International Airport, according to the Israeli newspaper.

The Israeli army threatened, on October 3, through its military spokesperson, Avichai Adraee, against “attempts by [Hezbollah] to use the [Masnaa] crossing to smuggle weapons from Iran.”

On October 4, Israeli aircraft launched strikes on the international road between the Jdeidet Yabous and Masnaa crossings on the Syrian-Lebanese border, which resulted in the road being blocked in both directions.

The Israeli army stated at that time that it targeted a two-mile-long (about 3.5 kilometers) tunnel on the Lebanese-Syrian border that was used by Hezbollah to transport and store “weapons” from Iran underground.

Israel again targeted the crossing on the 5th of this month, carrying out an airstrike that hit a pickup truck, resulting in one injury without any fatalities.
