Idlib factions prepare for possible military developments
The al-Fath al-Mubin Operations Room announced its readiness for any military developments, coinciding with the escalation of regime forces and their ongoing bombardment of the Aleppo and Idlib countryside.
The al-Fath al-Mubin Operations Room includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which holds significant influence in Idlib, the National Liberation Front, part of the Syrian National Army (SNA), alongside Jaish al-Izza.
The room affirmed its preparedness for “any military developments and revolutionary entitlements, to defend the liberated areas and protect their sanctities,” according to a statement issued on Saturday, October 12.
The room held the Syrian regime and its ally Iran responsible for the continued bombardment of civilians in northern Syria.
Regime forces have been conducting continuous bombardment campaigns using heavy artillery and warplanes, targeting Idlib villages and the Aleppo countryside over the past few weeks.
Drones and artillery have also been used to directly strike civilian vehicles and residents, resulting in the deaths of eight civilians and 38 others being injured.
The region has witnessed internal displacement waves towards western and border areas with Turkey, leaving more than 10,000 families having to abandon their homes and villages to seek refuge in safer areas.
The operations room confirmed it would not hesitate to defend itself and protect the residents.
Continuous escalation
On Saturday, regime forces shelled villages and towns in Aleppo and Idlib countryside with heavy artillery and suicide drones.
A reporter from Enab Baladi in Aleppo stated that regime forces targeted two civilian vehicles with anti-tank missiles at the Dalla roundabout east of Darat Izza, in addition to shelling the vicinity of Kafr Nouran village west of Aleppo with mortar shells, with no reports of injuries.
It was also reported that a suicide drone targeted civilians in the village of Tadil west of Aleppo.
On the same day, a 15-year-old boy was injured in the back from a rocket attack originating from areas under the joint control of regime forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), targeting agricultural lands in the village of al-Baldaq in the eastern Aleppo countryside while he was helping his family work in the farm, according to the Syria Civil Defence.
The intensity of attacks by regime forces and their allies has increased in recent days, with military observatories warning against gatherings and remaining vigilant, as points belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah and regime forces have repeatedly targeted the Idlib countryside, especially from the village of Talhiah in eastern Idlib, coinciding with the escalation of Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
