Regions in northwestern Syria are witnessing a movement of displacement and the suspension of educational and cultural activities due to increased shelling from the Syrian regime forces, coinciding with the announcement of opposition factions to start military operations.

The bombing is concentrated in Darat Izza in western Aleppo, the industrial area in Idlib city, and in the villages of Qarqur and Kharbi in northern Hama.

One civilian was injured by cluster bomb shelling in Darat Izza, according to the Syria Civil Defence rescue agency.

For its part, a correspondent for the regime-affiliated Sham FM radio stated that Syrian and Russian warplanes targeted sites belonging to0 (HTS) in Darat Izza and the surrounding villages.

A correspondent for Enab Baladi reported that the town of al-Atarib in western Aleppo witnessed a movement of displacement early this morning.

The road connecting the towns of Sarmada and al-Dana was cut off, in addition to the road leading from Sarmada to Hazano, with the other side of it turning into a military and ambulance route, according to Enab Baladi correspondents in Idlib.

In turn, the Ministry of Education affiliated with the Syrian Salvation Government (SSG) suspended classes in schools and universities due to the increased shelling in the areas under its control.

The Ministry of Health in the SSG also halted a health conference that was scheduled to be held today in Idlib city.

Enab Baladi‘s correspondent in Idlib confirmed that schools and universities have stopped amidst a state of calm and anticipation, with light movement among civilians.

For its part, the “Observatory 80” platform, which monitors the regime’s movements and shelling in the area, warned of sudden bombardments on villages and towns in the rural areas of Aleppo and Idlib near the front lines.

It added that the regime has raised its military readiness across all artillery and rocket launch sites.

Factions announce “Deterrence of Aggression”

In parallel with the regime’s escalation, the opposition factions in the region announced military actions on the fronts of northern Syria under the banner of “Deterrence of Aggression.”

Hassan Abdul Ghani, a leader in the al-Fath al-Mubin Operations Room, stated that the military action came as a response to the regime’s shelling of northern Syria and to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their villages.

Pro-regime pages and observatories, including “Sam,” reported that clashes are taking place between the regime’s army and opposition factions on the western Aleppo countryside front.

The city of Ariha in southern Idlib was subjected to regime bombing yesterday, November 26, targeting the main market and one of the religious science institutes.

The death toll from the bombing has risen to four dead and 13 others injured, according to a correspondent from Enab Baladi.

Additionally, two individuals, one of them an infant, were injured yesterday due to shelling on Maarat al-Nasan in the eastern countryside of Idlib, according to the Civil Defence.

Suicidal drone attacks also targeted the town of Mklabis in western Aleppo, with no injuries reported, according to an Enab Baladi correspondent in the Aleppo countryside.

The northwestern regions of Syria are experiencing near-daily shelling from the regime and Russia using warplanes, artillery, and drones, despite the de-escalation agreement in the area, signed by Russia and Turkey in 2020.

The rate of bombing in the region has increased following reports circulating in local Telegram groups claiming that military factions in the area are preparing for military operations.

The Syria Civil Defence has documented the killing of 66 civilians, including 18 children and eight women, and the injury of 272 others, including 110 children and 34 women, since the beginning of this year until mid-October, due to the shelling by the Syrian regime and Russia in northwestern Syria.
