Eleven Syrians, including six children, were injured in an Israeli bombing targeting the town of Maaroub in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported on Sunday, August 11, that an Israeli airstrike on Maaroub resulted in 12 injuries, including 11 Syrians and one Lebanese citizen.

According to the agency, as per the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Health, there are two critical cases: a woman and a five-month-old Syrian baby girl.

The other injured Syrian children include two girls aged five and seven, a 12-year-old girl, and two boys aged 11.

The bombing on Maaroub is part of an ongoing escalation and mutual shelling between the Lebanese Hezbollah and the Israeli army following the Israeli war on Gaza after the al-Aqsa Flood operation carried out by the Hamas movement against Israel on October 7, 2023.

Southern Lebanon, especially the border areas, has borne the brunt of the Israeli bombing, whether through artillery and rocket fire, or Israeli airstrikes and drone attacks.

In the past hours, Hezbollah stated that it targeted the recently established headquarters of the 146th Division of the Israeli army with Katyusha rockets, while Israeli warplanes bombed the town of Sheheen in southern Lebanon in response.

Israeli bombings on Lebanon have killed and injured several Syrians residing in the region over the past months.

On August 1, three people were killed and five others injured following an Israeli airstrike targeting the area between the towns of Shamaa and Tayr Harfa.

According to the Lebanese Al Jadeed channel, five Syrians from one family—a mother and her four children—were killed in the bombing.

On July 20, four Syrian girls were injured during an Israeli bombing targeting a car in southern Lebanon’s Khiyam Plain.

On July 17, five Syrians, including three children, were killed in an Israeli bombing targeting two locations in southern Lebanon.

The bombing at that time targeted a site in the town of Umm al-Tut in southern Lebanon, resulting in the death of three Syrian children, according to the National News Agency.

An Israeli drone strike on a motorcycle on the Kfar Tibnit – Khardaly road also resulted in the deaths of two young Syrian men.
