The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) documented the killing of 65 civilians in Syria during the past July, including 23 children and 3 women, at the hands of various conflicting parties in Syria.

The Network’s report released yesterday, Thursday, August 1, stated that the Syrian regime killed eight civilians, including two children, while Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) killed two civilians. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was responsible for the killing of four civilians, including two children and a woman. One child was killed by the International Coalition Forces (ICF), while 50 civilians, including 18 children and two women, were killed by other parties, including 12 children killed by Hezbollah.

The report indicated that the percentage of victims in Daraa governorate was 31% of the total casualties documented in July, making it the highest among the governorates, with 18 victims killed by various parties, followed by the occupied Golan with approximately 18%, and Aleppo governorate with approximately 15% of the total casualties.

The report also documented the killing of six people under torture in July, four of whom at the hands of regime forces, and two at the hands of Tahrir al-Sham. One medical staff member was killed by other parties.

The SNHR confirmed that one massacre occurred in July by other parties, bringing the total number of massacres since the beginning of 2024 to ten.

The report also documented at least eight attacks on vital civilian centers during July, carried out by conflicting parties and controlling forces in Syria: five by Syrian regime forces, one by opposition factions, and two by other entities.

In June 2024, the SNHR documented the killing of 62 civilians, including eight children and four women, and ten victims of torture, indicating an increase in civilian casualties in July compared to the previous month.

During the first half of this year, 429 civilians were killed due to the conflict in Syria, including 65 children, 38 women, and 53 people because of torture.

The regime and Russia escalated attacks on areas in northwestern Syria during the past July, coinciding with increased talks of rapprochement between the Syrian regime and Turkey facilitated by Russian mediation and efforts.

The regime and Russia used artillery, missiles, as well as air raids and intensified the use of suicide drones in their bombardment.
