The Israeli Alma Research Center stated that the bombing that occurred in the Syrian province of Deir Ezzor a few days ago is an Israeli message to Iran.

The center added in its report on Wednesday, March 28, that the attack was carried out by Israel and was “relatively rare in terms of size” as it targeted about ten locations belonging to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the cities of al-Bukamal, al-Salihiyah, al-Mayadeen, and Deir Ezzor.

The center cited unmentioned sources that the Israeli Air Force targeted weapon storage facilities, a headquarters, and a house in Deir Ezzor, where senior officials of the Revolutionary Guard Corps and Shiite militias were meeting.

It pointed out that the geographical area between al-Bukamal and Deir Ezzor is considered “an anchor for the Iranian geographical entrenchment” within the framework of the Iranian land corridor for transferring weapons to Syria and Lebanon through Iraq.

According to the center’s report, the “4000” intelligence section of the Revolutionary Guard Corps and its commander Jawad Ghaffari are responsible for the smuggling operation to the West Bank via Syria and then Jordan.

It added that the special operations unit of the Quds Force in Syrian territory, which bears the name “Unit 18840”, is under the patronage of Yazdan Mir, known as Sardar Baqeri, and is active in the same context.

The report concluded that the attack had two goals, the first being to send a message to Iran in the context of its attempts to transfer weapons to the West Bank in Palestine, and secondly, to disrupt and destroy the infrastructure for smuggling Iranian weapons in Syria and Lebanon.

The Syrian regime’s Defense Ministry stated on March 26, that the United States had bombed towns, villages, and military sites in Deir Ezzor province, leaving eight dead, including a civilian, and more than 30 wounded.

Through its Facebook page, the ministry added that American aerial bombardment using warplanes and drones targeted towns, villages, and military sites in the Deir Ezzor province and its countryside, resulting in the death of seven soldiers and one civilian and wounding 19 other soldiers, as well as 13 civilians.

The ministry pointed out that the raids caused “large” material losses to public and private property.

For its part, the United States denied responsibility for the attack that targeted vital sites for Iran-backed militias in the Deir Ezzor province, eastern Syria.

Responding to inquiries by Enab Baladi electronically, the media office of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) transferred a statement from an official in the US Department of Defense on the past Tuesday that the United States had not carried out any attack in Syria the day before.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Mehr news agency reported that an American attack targeted locations of the “Resistance Axis” in the Syrian province of Deir Ezzor, resulting in the death of Bahruz Wahidi, who was “one of the advisors of the Revolutionary Guard Corps.”
