Quneitra governorate (southwestern Syria) saw an escalation on the ground on Thursday, October 8, as Israeli forces carried out incursions and military measures that included closing several roads.
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported that three roads had been closed, including the road connecting Tal Krum and Al-Samdaniyah in the Quneitra countryside. Tents were also erected in the Tal Krum area, with military vehicles stationed nearby.
Local sources reported military vehicles and a tank on the road connecting Jabah and Umm Batnah in the Quneitra countryside, amid tension and apprehension among residents.
Israeli army forces fired at shepherds near Kudna (southern Quneitra countryside, southwestern Syria).
The state-run channel al-Ikhbariya reported that Israeli forces entered Al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiya village in the Quneitra countryside and continued advancing toward the area around Tal Krum.
It said the forces entered the village with two tanks and more than 15 military vehicles carrying soldiers.
An Israeli army unit entered Jubata al-Khashab (northern Quneitra countryside, southwestern Syria) on Wednesday, October 7.
The unit fired at a young man while he was in an area of vineyards, wounding him in the leg before detaining him, according to Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra.
The correspondent reported that the young man, Ahmad Kabboul, was wounded in the leg when Israeli occupation forces fired at him during their incursion into Jubata al-Khashab.
He said Israeli soldiers carried Kabboul on a stretcher from the site where he was wounded, then took him away and held him for several hours. They later released him, and he was taken to Golan National Hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces released two young men whom they had detained the previous Monday after firing at them and wounding one.
According to information reported by Enab Baladi’s correspondent, the two young men were from Zakiyah (Rif Dimashq, southwestern Syria). Contact with them had been lost since Monday, before it later emerged that they were being held by Israeli forces.
On October 5, the Israeli army announced that it had spotted two people it described as “suspects” riding a motorcycle toward one of its military positions in the “defensive security zone” in southern Syria.
The army said in a statement that its forces began procedures to stop the two as soon as they were spotted, including firing at them, before arresting them. It reported no injuries among its personnel.
In Daraa (southern Syria), Israeli forces fired two shells on October 6 at agricultural plains near Abidin village in the western Daraa countryside. No damage was reported, according to Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Daraa.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) documented at least 453 ground incursions by Israeli forces into Syrian territory, along with the killing of 69 people and 162 cases of arbitrary detention, between December 8, 2024, and October 6, 2026.
In a report published on Thursday, October 8, SNHR said the incursions were concentrated primarily in Quneitra and Daraa governorates, and to a lesser extent in Damascus countryside.
It noted that the figures represented the minimum number of cases it had been able to document, drawing on its violations database, field monitoring, witness accounts, and open and official sources.
According to the report, Israeli operations during the period covered evolved from limited movements near the separation lines into repeated incursions into inhabited villages and towns. These were accompanied by killings, injuries, detentions, and home raids, as well as attacks on media, medical, and humanitarian workers, including Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams.
