The Israeli army detained three people in the southern and northern countryside of Quneitra following incursions on Friday morning, September 11.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported that Israeli army forces detained a young man during an incursion into Hamidiyah town in the northern Quneitra countryside.

The forces also detained two people during an incursion involving six military vehicles carrying soldiers into Rafid, in the southern Quneitra countryside, according to the correspondent.

Syria’s official al-Ikhbariya channel reported that Israeli army forces abducted a man and his son in Rafid, in the southern Quneitra countryside, and took them to an unknown location after raiding and searching a house.

This came after Israeli forces entered the town with a military force consisting of six vehicles carrying soldiers, according to al-Ikhbariya.

Israel regularly carries out detention operations targeting young men in southern Syria. Some detentions last for hours, while in other cases detainees remain in custody for longer periods amid a lack of information about the details or conditions of their detention.

Previous Releases

On September 9, the Israeli army released three Syrian detainees from the southern Syrian governorates of Daraa and Quneitra.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent reported that the three released men had been detained for periods ranging from one to two months.

The correspondent said the Israeli army released detainee Mohammad Qasim al-Mousa, from al-Malaqa in the southern Quneitra countryside, after two months in detention.

It also released Kamal Youssef al-Qasem and Raslan Adel Saeed al-Hassan, both from Abdin in the western Daraa countryside, after one month in detention.

Sijill Center, which specializes in documenting Israeli violations in Syria, reported in early September that Israeli forces were continuing to hold 43 Syrians.

Based on those figures, 40 Syrian detainees remained in Israeli prisons after the latest release.

Recent weeks have also seen successive releases of Syrian detainees held in Israeli prisons.

On August 26, the Israeli army released four detainees.

Three detainees had previously been released on August 19, in addition to two others on August 5.

In July, four people from the governorates of Quneitra and Daraa were released.

The releases have come amid occasional protests organized by residents demanding the release of their detained relatives.

267 Violations in August

Sijill Center documented 267 violations committed by Israeli occupation forces inside Syrian territory during August.

The center’s statistics showed that Israeli violations in August increased by 43% compared with July, when 187 violations were recorded. The August figure was also about 12% higher than in June, which saw 239 violations.

According to Sijill Center, August recorded the second-highest monthly number of Israeli violations since the beginning of 2026, after March, when 321 violations were recorded. The August total also exceeded April’s figure of 254 violations.

The center’s data showed that Israeli forces committed 1,752 violations inside Syria from the beginning of 2026 through the end of August.
