Israeli occupation forces carried out an incursion, raid, and arrest operation in Jubata al-Khashab (Quneitra, southwestern Syria) at dawn on Wednesday, August 19.

According to Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra, Israeli forces entered Jubata al-Khashab with a force of more than 100 personnel and about 15 military vehicles, coming from the Jubata al-Khashab forest base, and searched several homes inside the town.

The correspondent added that the forces detained two residents of the town and took them to an unknown location. No information has yet emerged about the reasons for their detention or where they were taken. One of them was later released.

He said the overnight raid and arrests caused panic and intense fear among residents, particularly because of the size of the military force involved, the entry of military vehicles into residential neighborhoods, and the searches of homes.

The incursion comes as part of a series of operations carried out by Israeli forces in areas of the Quneitra and Daraa countryside. In some cases, these operations have involved entering towns and villages, conducting searches, or making arrests, amid the continued Israeli military deployment in areas near the ceasefire line.

Previous Incursions

An Israeli force entered the village of Abidin in the western Daraa countryside, southern Syria, at dawn on Monday, August 17, where it conducted searches and arrested four village residents before later releasing two of them.

Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Daraa reported that an Israeli patrol consisting of more than ten vehicles left the al-Jazira military post and traveled along the valley road toward Abidin. Infantry soldiers entered the village, cut off movement between its areas, began searching, and arrested four people.

Israeli army forces later released two of those detained, according to a local source citing UNDOF forces.

The operation came two days after another raid on Abidin aimed at reopening a road that residents had blocked to hinder the advance of Israeli army forces. An Israeli force reopened the road and cut down a number of olive trees to improve visibility and monitor the route, according to the correspondent.

Israeli army forces had also entered the Yarmouk Basin area in the Daraa countryside on August 15 with eight military vehicles, coming through the Tal Abu Ghaithar gate toward Jamlah. They then stationed themselves on the bridge in the village of Saysoun, among residential neighborhoods.

On August 14, Civil Defense teams, assisted by residents, extinguished a fire that broke out in the woodland near Rafid after the Israeli army fired illumination flares into the area, according to al-Ikhbariya.

The Israeli army continues to arrest Syrian young men in southern Syria, releasing some after several hours of detention while taking others to unknown locations, with no information available about where they are being held.

Child Dies in War Remnants Explosion

In a separate incident, 14-year-old Mohammad Iyad Rahima, from Naba Alsakher in the central Quneitra countryside, died from injuries sustained when an unidentified object left behind by the war exploded in the area between Naba Alsakher and the city of al-Harra in northern Daraa.

The media office at Golan National Hospital confirmed to Enab Baladi that Rahima arrived at the hospital as an emergency case after being struck in the head by shrapnel from the explosion.

The office said the hospital’s medical staff provided the child with the necessary emergency care and medical procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, in an attempt to save his life, but he died from his injuries.
