Israeli occupation forces advanced into the southern countryside of Quneitra on the morning of Friday, July 25, before withdrawing later the same evening.

A media activist from Quneitra, who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons, told Enab Baladi on Saturday, July 26, that an Israeli military unit entered the Abu Madhra farms area in southern Quneitra. During the hour-and-a-half-long incursion, Israeli soldiers searched homes and recorded the personal data of many farmers.

The operation did not result in any arrests of local residents in the Abu Madhra farms.

The activist added that Israeli forces carry out near-daily incursions into villages in the southern Quneitra countryside, often arresting dozens of young men.

On July 23, the Media Relations Office in Rif Dimashq governorate denied reports circulated on social media and some media outlets about the presence of an Israeli tank and a military checkpoint in the town of Qatana, south of Damascus.

The office stated that the claims were completely false and unrelated to reality, asserting that Qatana remains fully under Syrian state sovereignty, with regular deployments of Syrian army forces and close monitoring by military and security agencies.

Some social media platforms had reported that Israeli forces had deployed a tank and three armored vehicles and established military checkpoints in Qatana.

On July 22, Israel announced the arrest of Syrians it claimed were arms dealers operating in southern Syria, stating that the investigation had concluded based on intelligence data.

Avichay Adraee, Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli army, said that the 210th Division and Unit 504 conducted a military operation that led to the arrest and interrogation of individuals suspected of arms trafficking in southern Syria during the previous night.

He added that the arrests were made following intelligence indicators regarding several suspects transporting various types of weapons.

According to Adraee, the Israeli army confiscated weapons found in the area during its military operation inside Syria.

While Adraee did not specify the location or number of detainees, previous arrest operations have targeted residents of Quneitra province, which borders Israel.

He also published a video and photos showing weapons, ammunition, military uniforms, and the former Syrian regime flag (red version).
