The Syrian Ministry of Defense in the interim government of Damascus announced today, Monday, March 10, the end of the military campaign in the Syrian coast, following the successful completion of the objectives of the second phase launched to pursue the remnants of the Syrian regime.

The spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Defense, Colonel Hassan Abdel Ghani, stated, “In fulfillment of the promise we made to our people with the launch of the second phase of operations, we announce the success of our forces in achieving all the objectives set for this phase.”

Abdel Ghani added that the Ministry of Defense and General Security Forces managed to absorb attacks from the remnants of the regime and its officers, thwarting their surprise element and managing to push them away from vital centers. He pointed out that the Ministry of Defense secured most public roads that these remnants had used as launching points to target civilians.

Abdel Ghani also indicated that the Ministry of Defense forces were able to neutralize the security cells and remnants of the regime from the towns of al-Mukhtariyah, al-Mazir’ah, and al-Zubar in the Latakia province, as well as the towns of al-Daliah, Tanita, and Qadmous in Tartus province, which resulted in foiling threats and securing the region.

The spokesperson for the Syrian Defense Ministry continued, “With this achievement, we announce the end of the military operation on the coast with the fulfillment of its objectives. After public institutions have become capable of resuming work and providing basic services to our people, we pave the way for life to return to normal and to consolidate security and stability.”

He emphasized that the security agencies will work in the upcoming phase to enhance their efforts to ensure stability, maintain security, and protect citizens, as new plans have been put in place to continue combating the remnants of the regime and ending any future threats, preventing the emergence of criminal cells again, and “we will allow the investigative committee the full opportunity to uncover the circumstances of events and confirm the facts to ensure justice for the wronged.”

At the end of his speech, the Syrian Defense Ministry official sent a message to the remnants of the regime, saying, “To those who remain of the defeated remnants of the regime and the fleeing officers, our message is clear and explicit: If you return, we will return, and you will find no one before you except men who do not know retreat and do not show mercy to those whose hands are stained with the blood of innocents.”

The Syrian Ministry of Defense launched, on the morning of Sunday, March 9, the second phase of military operations aimed at pursuing the remnants of the Assad regime along the Syrian coast.

Colonel Hassan Abdel Ghani stated that after restoring security and stability in the coastal cities, the military forces and security agencies began implementing the second phase of operations.

Based on directives from military leadership, the forces devised meticulous plans aimed at encircling the fleeing elements to ensure the complete elimination of any security threat.

In the meantime, a mass grave containing several members of the General Security Forces and police elements was found near the city of Qardaha, who were killed by remnants of the regime and buried in one of the valleys of Qardaha.

Tensions have escalated in the Syrian coast since last Thursday, following a wide-scale attack carried out by remnants of the former regime against General Security checkpoints in Latakia and Tartus.

The death toll among civilians and security personnel has risen to 642 as a result of the ongoing military operations on the coast against remnants of the ousted Assad regime since last Thursday.

The director of the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR), Fadel Abdel Ghani, clarified to Enab Baladi that the remnants of the Assad regime and gangs outside the framework of the state have killed 315 people, including 167 members of the General Security Forces and 148 civilians.

Abdel Ghani pointed out that 327 individuals (civilians and unarmed fighters) were killed by the General Security Forces and their allied forces from armed factions and individuals, indicating that the toll is not final amid expectations of an increase in the number of deaths among General Security personnel.

He noted that this toll does not include the deaths of armed gangs during the clashes, as this killing is not considered a violation of the law.
