The Israeli army launched wide-ranging military maneuvers in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, coinciding with ongoing Israeli military activities in the region for several months within Syrian territory.
The Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported on Thursday, March 20, that the Israeli army is conducting extensive military maneuvers in the Golan Heights.
The newspaper added that the occupied Syrian plateau would witness significant movement of vehicles and army personnel, with sounds of explosions heard during the maneuvers.
A spokesperson for the Israeli army was quoted by the newspaper saying, “There is no concern about any security incidents.”
Since the fall of the regime, Israel has carried out a series of similar airstrikes in southern Syria, claiming they aim to destroy the military arsenal of the ousted regime.
Alongside the airstrikes, Israeli military vehicles have entered Syrian regions in the governorates of Daraa and Quneitra in southern Syria, continuing to intrude and withdraw almost daily.
On March 18, the Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli airstrikes that targeted Daraa province in southern Syria, resulting in civilian casualties.
The ministry stated in a statement at the time that it condemned the Israeli air raids on Daraa, which led to the deaths of two Syrian citizens and injuries to 19 others.
It added that this “aggressive action is part of a campaign launched by Israel against the Syrian people and stability in the country.”
The ministry pointed out that the ongoing Israeli attacks on Syria not only constitute a violation of international law but also represent a direct threat to regional and international security.
It emphasized that the deliberate attacks, carried out without any deterrent, “reveal Israel’s complete disregard for international laws and norms, under justifications that have lost all credibility.”
The Syrian Foreign Ministry called on the United Nations, the Security Council, and all responsible international bodies to act without delay to put an end to Israel’s unlawful actions and to implement the 1974 agreement.
In the latest comment on Israeli movements in Syria, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that the army has attacked military targets in southern Syria, including command centers and military sites containing weaponry and military vehicles belonging to the former Syrian regime, which are currently undergoing attempts at rehabilitation.
He pointed out that the presence of these weapons in southern Syria poses a threat to Israel, asserting that the Israeli army will not allow military threats in southern Syria and will take action against them.
