Arab and European countries welcomed the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the central government in Damascus, which provides for the integration of SDF military and civilian institutions into the Syrian state.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the agreement on March 10, welcomed the signing of the agreement that provides for the integration of all civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria into the Syrian state institutions.

The statement praised the measures taken by the Syrian administration “to preserve civil peace in Syria, and the efforts made to complete the efforts of building state institutions.”

For its part, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying it welcomes the agreement to merge the civil and military institutions in northeastern Syria into the administration of the Syrian state.

It considered that the agreement represents an important step in the efforts to rebuild the state and its institutions and enhance security and stability.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed al-Budaiwi, praised the agreement between the SDF and Damascus, according to what was published by the council’s General Secretariat on its official website today, Tuesday.

The spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sufyan al-Qudah, stated that Amman supports Syria and is ready to provide all possible support to the Syrian people to transcend the transitional phase, which aims to be a starting point for rebuilding Syria through a Syrian-Syrian process that involves all segments of the Syrian people.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry considered that the agreement that brought together the SDF and the Syrian administration is “an important step towards rebuilding Syria.”

On his part, the German envoy to Syria, Stefan Schneck, described the news of the agreement as “wonderful,” according to what he wrote on his personal account on X. Schneck stated that Syria needs leadership and the ability to negotiate to reach a better future.

Last night, the Syrian transitional president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, held a meeting with the SDF leader, during which the two parties reached an agreement stipulating the integration of the SDF into Syrian state institutions.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to ensure the rights of all Syrians in representation and participation in the political process and all state institutions based on competence, regardless of their religious and ethnic backgrounds.

This step comes after months of complex negotiations between the two sides following the fall of the Syrian regime on December 8, 2024, aimed at integrating both parties. Many obstacles had obstructed the process, but it found its way to a meeting between Abdi and al-Sharaa in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
