Thousands of Syrians gathered in public squares across most Syrian provinces in a “Victory Friday”, following calls to celebrate the fall of the Syrian regime.

Enab Baladi reported the emergence of demonstrations by Syrians in the main squares today, Friday, December 13, in Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Homs, Latakia, As-Suwayda, Idlib, Tartus, Daraa, and Deir Ezzor.

An Enab Baladi reporter in Damascus stated that the head of the caretaker government, Mohammed al-Bashir, performed Friday prayers at the Great Umayyad Mosque in Damascus and delivered a sermon from its pulpit.

Demonstrators returned to several squares that witnessed massive protests at the beginning of the Syrian revolution, such as the Omari Mosque square in Daraa and the clock squares in Homs and Hama.

Meanwhile, the Umayyad Square in Damascus witnessed a gathering for the first time of supporters of the Syrian revolution after the regime’s fall, after the Syrian regime had previously organized pro-regime rallies in response to the revolutionary crowds.

On Friday morning, December 13, the commander of the Military Operations Administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa (Abu Mohammad al-Jolani), called on Syrians to head to the squares to celebrate the “victory of the revolution” and to “express their joy without firing bullets or terrifying people.”

Yesterday, Thursday, the Syrian Revolution Network, one of the first pages that emerged since the beginning of the revolution, called for what it termed a celebration of “Victory Friday” on the first Friday after the fall of the regime, which occurred on December 8.

Opposition factions entered the Syrian capital, Damascus, on the morning of December 8, while the head of the regime, Bashar al-Assad, fled to the Russian capital, Moscow.

The fall of al-Assad came after 11 days of the “Deterrence of Aggression” operation, which was launched after the announcement of the Military Operations Administration on November 27.
