The Military Operations Administration in Syria announced an agreement to dissolve all military factions and integrate them under the umbrella of the Ministry of Defense.

The administration mentioned today, Tuesday, December 24, that a meeting of revolutionary faction leaders with the new administration’s commander, Ahmed al-Sharaa, resulted in this agreement.

This step came after a series of meetings that al-Sharaa held in recent days with military factions to discuss the structure of the new military institution in Syria.

Just two days ago, the commander of the Military Operations Administration, Ahmed al-Sharaa, confirmed that an announcement regarding the Ministry of Defense would be made within days, and a committee of new military leaders would be formed to outline a new structure for the upcoming army, starting with the gradual dissolution of the factions and their integration into the army, emphasizing that no weapons would be allowed outside the state’s control.

He added that there is a consensus among most factions on the need for a unified command and the establishment of a Ministry of Defense after the completion of military operations.

In recent days, all diplomatic delegations that visited Damascus emphasized the importance of maintaining security and preserving the unity and stability of Syria, calling for the participation of all segments of Syrian society in the transitional phase of the country.

A few days ago, the military commander of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Murhaf Abu Qasra (Abu Hassan 600), was appointed as Minister of Defense in the Syrian caretaker government.

Abu Qasra is known as “Abu Hassan al-Hamawi,” and he is an agricultural engineer from Hama province in central Syria.

Earlier, Abu Qasra called on the United Nations and concerned European countries to remove Tahrir al-Sham from their lists of terrorist organizations.

He asserted that building the military institution is certainly a forthcoming step and that all military units, including the military wing of the HTS, must fall under this institution.

On December 15, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler expressed his country’s readiness to provide necessary support should the new administration in Syria request it.

Güler stated that Turkey has training and military cooperation agreements with several countries, adding that it will provide support to the extent possible for the adoption of a comprehensive constitution in Syria, the holding of free elections, and reaching a political solution in accordance with United Nations Resolution “2254.”

The minister confirmed that Turkey has no involvement in the activities carried out by local groups, either before or at any stage in the future.

On November 27, opposition factions in Syria led a military operation named “Deterrence of Aggression,” which resulted in the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on December 8, while attention remains focused on Raqqa and al-Hasakah, which the Military Operations Administration is attempting to regain through negotiations.
