Israel has repeated its bombing of sites in the central region of Syria over the past two days, targeting the cities of Homs and Hama with four air strikes.

Official Syrian news agency (SANA) reported, citing a military source, that Israeli aircraft launched an airstrike on the evening of Sunday, October 6, from the direction of Lebanon targeting several sites in the central region, resulting in material losses.

Footage shared on social media showed fires breaking out after the targeting.

Local radio station Sham FM reported that a “hostile” missile fell near the Homs-Salamiyah road junction east of Homs, leading to a “massive” explosion, and a large fire erupted south of Homs due to another missile.

Sham FM added that the sounds of explosions heard in Homs after the bombing were due to ammunition exploding.

Three local sources in the city of Salamiyah confirmed to Enab Baladi the occurrence of explosions near the Shmemis castle northwest of Salamiyah.

Hours before these raids, the industrial city of Hasya in the countryside of Homs was subjected to Israeli bombing that targeted three cars inside the industrial city loaded with medical and relief materials, with damages limited to materials.

The Russian Sputnik agency reported that the bombing targeted a large truck allocated for transporting car parts in front of the Sham car factory, causing fires in the vehicle and around it.

Photos published by the local Al-Watan newspaper showed targeted cars, one of which carried an Iraqi license plate.

The city of Homs was also shelled twice on Saturday, the first of which involved a drone firing several missiles at the Hosh al-Sayyid Ali area in the al-Qusayr countryside near the Syrian-Lebanese border, according to Sputnik.

The al-Qusayr bombing was mentioned by Sham FM, while other media outlets close to or affiliated with the regime ignored it.

The second was an attack on a car on the Hama road at the northern entrance of Homs, executed by a drone, resulting in one death and three injuries, as published by Sham FM.

Israeli escalation

Israel targets infrastructure and headquarters of Iran-backed armed groups in Syria, which may be deep within Syrian territory, and does not claim responsibility, while frequently responding to sources of fire from southern Syria, most of which have been officially adopted.

The pace of Israeli targets has intensified over the past two weeks in conjunction with increased Israeli escalation on Lebanon.

Israeli aircraft raided an apartment in a building in the Mezzeh district in Damascus on October 2, killing three and injuring three others.

The raid on the area came just one day after Israeli aircraft attacked a site around the Mezzeh district in Damascus.

The Ministry of Defense of the Syrian regime government stated that Israeli aircraft attacked from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, striking several points in the city of Damascus, resulting in three civilian deaths, nine injuries, and damage to private property described by the ministry as “extensive.”

The spokesperson for the Russian Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, condemned the Israeli aerial attack on Damascus at the beginning of the month.

Peskov, responding to journalists’ questions, said that Moscow is, of course, in constant contact with Syria, noting that there are no immediate risks now, in response to the Israeli raids on Syria.
