The western Aleppo countryside and eastern Idlib have witnessed a wave of displacement of residents due to the increased intensity of the regime’s shelling on areas controlled by the opposition in northwestern Syria.

The Administration of Liberated Areas affiliated with the Syrian Salvation Government (SSG) published today, Thursday, October 31, photos that it claimed show the displacement of residents from western Aleppo countryside.

The Syria Response Coordination Group (SRCG) reported that the movement of displacement has resumed in the villages and towns near the frontlines due to the shelling, noting that the movement of displacement had stopped in recent days and many families had returned to their areas.

According to the SRCG team, the areas of displacement included 37 villages and towns in the western Aleppo countryside and the eastern and southern Idlib countryside.

The number of displaced individuals over the past 48 hours has exceeded 1,843, with children and women constituting 81% of them.

The shelling increases the suffering of the population in northwestern Syria, which already suffers from a lack of basic humanitarian needs.

According to the latest assessment by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 5.1 million people live in northwestern Syria, including 4.27 million in need of humanitarian assistance, with aid reaching only 920,000 people, or 27% of those in need.

There are 2.1 million people residing in camps out of 5.1 million, and aid has reached only 310,000 people, or 16% of the total residents of the camps.

Today, the area witnessed intense shelling from regime forces, which targeted various areas in the Idlib and Aleppo countrysides with heavy artillery, missiles, and suicide drones.

The military observatory account via Telegram stated that the regime shelled villages and towns in the Aleppo countryside today with six “elephant” rockets, 30 Grad rockets, 25 heavy artillery shells, 45 mortar shells, and three suicide drones.

The observatory added that the Syrian regime also targeted the vicinity of the village of San in the Idlib countryside with seven suicide drones, resulting in injuries and damage to a vehicle and an olive-picking workshop, while the village of Kadoura near a Turkish observation point was subjected to artillery shelling.

The “Observatory 80” (Abu Amin) warned civilians working in the olive harvest in agricultural land near the frontlines to reduce gatherings and movements, hide agricultural machinery, and restrict movement during the flight of reconnaissance aircraft.

Today’s shelling resulted in the injury of a man, his wife, and their son during the targeting of suicide drones on olive-picking workers in the village of San in eastern Idlib.
