The number of Syrians who reached northwestern Syria after leaving Lebanon is around 2,700 people (approximately 450 families).

The Syria Civil Defence (The White Helmets) stated on Thursday, October 10, that a new batch of Syrians returning from Lebanon due to the Israeli escalation entered northwestern Syria through the Aoun al-Dadat crossing during the past three days.

The number of arrivals over the past three days ranges between 950 and 1,000 people, most of whom are women and children, adding to the first batch which included around 1,700 people.

The Syria Civil Defence mentioned that the Syrian families fleeing the war in Lebanon and entering northwestern Syria are facing “significant” difficulties, with several patients suffering from chronic illnesses, pregnant women, and cases of childbirth transported to hospitals, along with general weakness, fatigue, and psychological stress caused by the war and displacement.

The second batch began entering since last Tuesday evening, specifically for emergency and medical cases, followed by the gradual entry of families after passing through procedures taken by the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) and the Military Police at the Aoun al-Dadat crossing.

The Aoun al-Dadat crossing connects the city of Jarablus, which is under the influence of the Interim Government, and Manbij, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and it is the only official crossing between northwestern Syria and other Syrian areas.

According to what the Media Office of the Interim Government clarified to Enab Baladi earlier, the entry of families is taking place gradually in accordance with procedures initiated by the Interim Government to facilitate and organize their entrance.

There are civil registration teams sent by the government three days ago to the Aoun al-Dadat crossing to document the arriving individuals, collect their personal information, take personal photos, fingerprint them, and issue them civil registration extracts so that they can move around the various opposition-held areas and also refer to the organizations operating in the area and the governmental bodies.

With this process, the newcomers from Lebanon will have documents issued by the Civil Registration Department, to complete these procedures later by obtaining official personal IDs issued from the civil registration centers in the region where they are located.

Videos shared on social media showed dozens of families gathering at the crossing, most of whom were women and children in poor conditions, some of whom had spent three days outdoors in recent days before the Interim Government allowed them to cross.

On October 3, the first batch of Syrians returning from Lebanon entered through the crossing, after being stuck for three days.
