At least four people were killed and others were wounded in Israeli raids that targeted two sites in the Homs province in central Syria today, Monday.

The Russian agency Sputnik reported that a series of explosions shook the surrounding area of Homs today, Monday, May 20th, resulting from an “Israeli aggression,” while the air defenses responded to the attack.

While the Syrian regime’s Ministry of Defense did not announce any Israeli targeting in Syria, the newspaper Al-Watan, close to the regime, reported that an Israeli bombing resulted in the death of four people and injured four others in the southern countryside of Homs.

It added that an Israeli drone targeted a car in the city of al-Qusayr, located on the Syria-Lebanon border, following the first bombing.

Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack, while Israeli media, including the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, merely relayed the news from opposition Syrian media.

For its part, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition entity based in London, reported that Israeli strikes targeted a headquarters of Hezbollah near the al-Nabigha al-Dhubyani school north of the al-Qusayr city roundabout southwest of Homs on the Syria-Lebanon border.

It added that the strikes resulted in the death of six non-Syrian members of Hezbollah, in addition to wounding others.

The Observatory published a video recording it said was of the targeted site, showing the extent of the damage.

Enab Baladi has not been able to verify the extent of the damage resulting from the bombing through a neutral source so far.

This targeting is the second of its kind, as an Israeli aircraft had previously raided the same area, targeting a car near the Syria-Lebanon border.

On May 3rd, the Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that Israeli aircraft bombed a location from the direction of the occupied Golan into the surroundings of Damascus, which resulted in the injury of eight military personnel in addition to material damage.

Israel targets in Syria infrastructure and headquarters for armed groups supported by Iran and can be deep inside Syrian territory, while it frequently responds to sources of fire from southern Syria.

The Israeli air strikes in Syria have quieted down after a rapid escalation of events that started when Israel bombed the Iranian consulate in the Mezzeh district of the capital Damascus at the beginning of April, to which Iran responded about ten days later with a barrage of rockets and drones fired towards Israel, although they did not reach their destination.
