The Syrian regime announced Sunday, March 31, that civilians were wounded due to a new Israeli targeting in the vicinity of Damascus, the third of its kind in two days.
The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), quoted a military source that at 9:30 pm, Israel launched an aerial attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting several points in the vicinity of the capital.
The attack resulted in civilian injuries and material losses, according to the agency.
The opposition website Sawt al-Asima (Damascus Voice) mentioned that the targeting included the Scientific Research Center in the Jamraya area in the Damascus countryside, and that ambulances headed to the center after the targeting.
The site also published a video recording claimed to be of the moment of targeting, showing a fire outbreak immediately after the strike.
For its part, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that no fewer than four Israeli missiles targeted the center, while the regime’s air defense systems attempted to confront targets in the capital’s sky.
Two days earlier
This bombing comes after sites and locations in Syria were targeted on March 29 in the Damascus countryside, resulting in two fatalities.
Reuters quoted two security sources that the Israeli strikes on the city of Aleppo resulted in 38 deaths, including five members of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the strikes targeted a Hezbollah weapons depot in the Jabrin area, near Aleppo International Airport, in addition to Israeli bombardment on defense factories in al-Safira, which was accompanied by explosions in the Kafarjoum area, west of Aleppo.
The Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, has hinted at expanding Israeli assassinations and targeting operations in Syria and Lebanon.
Gallant said, “Today I arrived at the Northern Command to closely monitor another successful assassination of a Hezbollah leader and to get an overview of the operations being carried out in preparation for the assassinations and other actions in Syria, Lebanon, and other places.”
On the same day, the Intelli Times center (an intelligence center on Iran’s nuclear activity and its agents in the Middle East) published that Aleppo is used as a center for transferring weapons to Hezbollah, and the operations of transferring the weapons are managed by the Quds Force of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), taking advantage of the infrastructure of the Syrian Army.
