Students Festival North of Aleppo after the Return of Schools
‘Sadik Hindawi’ School in the city of Jarabulus, north of Aleppo, hosted the first students festival in the region, years after the absence of education in the city and its surrounding for it has been under the control of the Islamic State Group (IS).
The festival was held last Tuesday, November 7, at the invitation of the Educational Office of the Council of Jarabulus, a few days after the start of the new school year, and included theatrical shows and songs and competitions involving the children of the school and the region.
The sixth-grade student, Hassan Youssef, told Enab Baladi that the festival was a trigger for him and his colleagues after a three-year absence.
Mustafa Jassim, the Director of the Educational Office at the Local Council of Jarabulus, said to Enab Baladi that the festival was organized as an announcement of the start of the new school year, with the participation of all committees in the city. “We are ready to face all the difficulties and challenges, and we are present within the region in the face of all those who aim to thwart the educational process.”
According to the director of ‘Sadik Hindawi’ School, Issa Bakkar, the festival “contributed to helping and stimulating children.”
“There is a great demand for education, and the school could not accommodate all the students who applied to it,” he told Enab Baladi.
