The Sijil Center, which monitors Israeli violations in Syria, documented 267 violations allegedly committed by Israeli forces inside Syrian territory during August.

The center’s figures showed that Israeli violations increased by 43% in August compared with July, when 187 violations were recorded. The August figure was also about 12% higher than in June, when 239 violations were documented.

According to the Sijil Center, August recorded the second-highest monthly number of Israeli violations since the beginning of 2026, after March, when 321 violations were documented. The August figure also exceeded the 254 violations recorded in April.

The center’s data showed that Israeli forces committed 1,752 violations inside Syria from the beginning of 2026 through the end of August.

Violations by Governorate

Quneitra governorate recorded the highest number of Israeli violations in Syria during August, with 193 violations, according to the Sijil Center.

The center also documented 63 violations in Daraa, eight in Rural Damascus governorate, two in Idlib governorate, and one in Deir Ezzor governorate, involving an Israeli warplane flying over the area.

The Sijil Center said the number of raids rose again in August, reaching 29, compared with 11 in July and 28 in June.

It added that the raids targeted homes and civilian sites and involved thorough searches, questioning residents and searching for weapons. In some cases, doors were broken, property was damaged and residents were intimidated. Livestock enclosures and areas surrounding homes were also searched during some operations.

Regarding ground incursions, the Sijil Center documented 109 operations involving patrols and military vehicles entering villages and agricultural areas, conducting rounds inside them and taking positions on elevated ground or at abandoned military sites.

Some incursions were accompanied by bulldozing operations, road construction and the removal of obstacles placed by residents to prevent Israeli military vehicles from advancing.

According to the center, aircraft activity ranked second, with 52 incidents, a marked increase from the 28 recorded in July.

The activity involved reconnaissance aircraft, drones, warplanes and helicopters, and was concentrated particularly over Quneitra and Daraa, while also extending to Rural Damascus and Deir Ezzor.

Temporary checkpoints ranked third, with 36 incidents compared with 24 in July. These included checkpoints set up on main, secondary and agricultural roads, where passersby were searched, identification documents were checked, civilians were questioned and traffic was disrupted.

The Sijil Center also documented 16 shelling incidents during August. One targeted Abu al-Duhur airbase, while another targeted a civilian vehicle in Beit Jinn (western Rural Damascus), injuring one person.

Israeli forces also targeted agricultural land, hills and open areas in the countryside of Quneitra and Daraa using artillery, mortar shells and drones.

The center documented another 14 incidents under an “other” category, including gunfire directed toward villages and agricultural land, as well as the firing of illumination flares.

Israeli forces also detained 12 civilians during incursions or raids, or while they were near areas where Israeli forces were deployed. They were released after questioning, except for two people who remain in detention.

Bulldozing Operations Continue

Bulldozing operations carried out by Israeli military vehicles continued during August in several areas of Quneitra, causing direct damage to agricultural and forest land.

The Sijil Center documented the bulldozing of 20 dunams of forest land in Jubata al-Khashab (northern Quneitra) on August 3. Israeli forces also carried out bulldozing operations in Wadi al-Ruqad in the western Daraa countryside on the same day.

In western Al-Samdaniyah in central Quneitra, bulldozing continued for about five hours on August 8. The damage was not limited to the land, as water, sewage and irrigation networks in the village were also affected.

The center said bulldozing operations also extended to the road between Al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiya and Khan Arnabeh in central Quneitra.

43 Syrians Remain Detained

The Sijil Center documented the continued detention of 43 Syrians by Israeli forces. During August, eight Syrian detainees and one Kuwaiti detainee were released after periods of detention ranging from four to 10 months.

The center said the latest releases brought the number of Syrian detainees released since the Israeli incursion into Syrian territory to 212.

It added that 192 of them had been detained for no more than about 24 hours, while 20 spent periods ranging from two months to more than a year in detention, including the nine detainees released in August.

What Is the Sijil Center?

The Sijil Center describes itself as an organization concerned with monitoring Israeli operations in Syria and Israeli affairs more broadly.

The center publishes daily and weekly briefs, monthly and thematic reports, research papers and analytical articles, in addition to providing regular news updates.

It says its publications rely on a network of monitors and cooperating activists who track developments related to Israeli operations in southern Syria.
