The Israeli army fired artillery shells at the outskirts of villages in western Daraa countryside (southern Syria) and carried out an incursion into the Quneitra countryside (southwestern Syria) at dawn on Tuesday, September 22.
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Daraa reported that Israeli army forces fired two flares over the village of Abdin in western Daraa countryside at dawn, before shelling the area between Jamlah and Abdin with five artillery rounds.
The correspondent confirmed that the shells struck agricultural land and caused no human casualties.
Syrian state-run al-Ikhbariya reported that the Israeli army fired artillery shells at the outskirts of Abdin, Jamlah, and Maariya villages in western Daraa countryside, while also launching flares over Abdin as Israeli aircraft flew over the area.
Incursion into Quneitra
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported that an Israeli army patrol entered the western neighborhood of Rafid in the Quneitra countryside, near a United Nations position, on Tuesday morning.
The patrol searched several civilian homes, with no arrests reported, according to the correspondent.
Israeli Attacks Intensify
The Israeli army intensified its attacks on southern Syria with artillery shelling and gunfire over the previous two days.
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Daraa reported that one of the attacks killed more than ten goats in Abdin in western Daraa countryside on Monday, September 21.
The correspondent added that Israeli forces also targeted residential neighborhoods in Maariya in western Daraa countryside with bursts from a ground-based anti-aircraft weapon.
The forces also fired a tank-mounted weapon toward agricultural land in the Wadi al-Ruqad area, in addition to shelling the area with three artillery rounds and firing another three rounds at the village of Dabbat al-Maghar.
According to the correspondent, the Israeli operation also included the firing of flares over Abdin and Maariya in the Wadi al-Ruqad area of western Daraa countryside.
An Israeli patrol also carried out an incursion into Rasem al-Halabi in the central Quneitra countryside.
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported that an Israeli military force consisting of ten troop-carrying vehicles entered the area and set up a checkpoint to search passersby.
267 Violations in August
The Sijil Center, which specializes in documenting Israeli violations in Syria, documented 267 violations committed by Israeli forces inside Syrian territory during August.
The center’s statistics showed that Israeli violations in August increased by 43% compared with July, when 187 violations were recorded. The number also rose by about 12% compared with June, which saw 239 violations.
According to the Sijil Center, August recorded the second-highest monthly number of Israeli violations since the beginning of 2026, after March, when 321 violations were documented. The August figure also exceeded the 254 violations recorded in April.
The center’s data showed that Israeli forces committed 1,752 violations inside Syria from the beginning of 2026 through the end of August.
The Israeli army has carried out daily incursions into southern Syria since December 8, 2024, and has refused to withdraw from Syrian territory despite Syrian calls for a return to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement signed between the two sides.
