The Israeli army intensified artillery shelling and gunfire against southern Syria over the past two days.
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Daraa reported that one of the attacks killed more than ten goats in the village of Abidin, in the western Daraa countryside (southern Syria).
He added that Israeli forces targeted residential neighborhoods in the village of Maariya, in the western Daraa countryside, with bursts of fire from an anti-aircraft gun at dawn today, Monday, September 21.
Israeli forces also fired a tank-mounted weapon toward agricultural land in the Wadi al-Ruqad area, in addition to shelling the area with three artillery rounds and firing three more rounds at the village of Dibbat al-Maghr.
According to the correspondent, the Israeli operation also included firing flares over the villages of Abidin and Maariya in the Wadi al-Ruqad area of the western Daraa countryside.
Incursions and Attacks in Quneitra
An Israeli patrol carried out an incursion today, Monday, September 21, into Rasem al-Halabi, in the central Quneitra countryside (southwestern Syria).
Enab Baladi’s correspondent in Quneitra reported that an Israeli military force consisting of ten vehicles carrying soldiers entered the area and set up a checkpoint to search passersby.
The Israeli operations followed other operations carried out on Sunday, September 20, in several areas of the Quneitra countryside.
The correspondent said Israeli forces fired several rounds from the Hamidiyah base toward agricultural land near western Al-Samdaniyah and west of Ruwayhina, and also shelled the Beer Ajam forest in the central Quneitra countryside.
Four mortar rounds fired by the Israeli occupation army from the occupied Golan Heights landed on agricultural land on the outskirts of Rafid, in the southern Quneitra countryside.
Israeli forces also blew up a military position formerly used by the previous regime near Jandal Castle in the Mount Hermon area.
The correspondent said the sounds of two explosions were heard at the summit of Mount Hermon, which is controlled by the Israeli army in the northern Quneitra countryside.
He added that the two explosions were heard from the direction of the Harboun summit, west of the mountain’s peak, noting that residents of the villages of Arna, Beit Tima, and Kafr heard the blasts.
According to residents’ accounts, this was the first such incident since Israeli forces entered the area in late 2024.
As part of the incursions, an Israeli patrol consisting of several vehicles entered Ain Ziwan and eastern Tal al-Ahmar before withdrawing toward the western Tal al-Ahmar base.
267 Violations in August
The Sijil Center, which specializes in documenting Israeli violations in Syria, recorded 267 violations committed by Israeli occupation forces inside Syrian territory during August.
The center’s statistics showed that Israeli violations rose by 43% in August compared with July, when 187 violations were recorded. The figure also increased by about 12% compared with June, which recorded 239 violations.
According to the Sijil Center, August recorded the second-highest monthly number of Israeli violations since the beginning of 2026, after March, which saw 321 violations. The August figure also exceeded the 254 violations recorded in April.
The center’s data showed that Israeli forces committed 1,752 violations inside Syria from the beginning of 2026 through the end of August.
The Israeli army has carried out daily incursions into southern Syria since December 8, 2024, and has refused to withdraw from Syrian territory despite Syrian calls for a return to the 1974 disengagement agreement signed by the two sides.
