The Syrian University for Security Sciences opened online registration on Aug. 29 for its admission competition for the 2026-2027 academic year, setting application requirements, minimum admission grades, and the accepted years for secondary school certificates.
According to the announcement, applicants to the College of Cybersecurity must have a minimum grade of 85% in the scientific branch of the secondary school certificate. Applications are open to both men and women. The minimum grade for the Technical Institute of Cybersecurity is 65% for scientific branch graduates of both sexes.
The College of Security Sciences requires a minimum grade of 80% for scientific branch graduates and 75% for literary branch graduates, with admission limited to men. The Technical Institute of Security Sciences requires at least 65% for scientific branch graduates and 60% for literary branch graduates, also for men only.
Applicants must have been born on or after Jan. 1, 2005, and must meet health, physical fitness, and psychological fitness requirements. The minimum height is 170 centimeters for men and 160 centimeters for women, while applicants must have a body mass index, BMI, between 18 and 28.
The university also requires applicants to have held Syrian citizenship for at least five years and to possess a Syrian General Secondary Education Certificate, or its equivalent, from 2025 or 2026. Applicants must also have full legal capacity and enjoy their civil rights.
Applicants must not have previously been convicted of a felony or received a custodial sentence for a crime involving dishonor or breach of trust.
Required Documents
The Syrian University for Security Sciences specified a set of documents that must be submitted as part of the registration application.
Applicants holding a Syrian General Secondary Education Certificate from 2025 must submit a duly certified copy of the certificate. Those holding a 2026 certificate must submit a clear screenshot of their examination result from the official electronic application approved by the Ministry of Education and Teaching, with the applicant’s basic information and result fully visible in a single image.
Applicants holding equivalent secondary school certificates must submit either the original certificate or a certified copy, along with an equivalency decision issued by the competent authority and duly authenticated after completing the required certification and equivalency procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and instructions.
Required documents also include a recent individual civil registry extract issued within the previous three months, a copy of the applicant’s identity card, a recent criminal record extract, a certificate of non-employment, and six recent color photographs with a white background.
Applicants serving in the Internal Security Forces must submit a no-objection document from their affiliated authority through the administrative chain of command. Applicants must also pay a 500 Syrian pound admission competition fee when submitting the application.
Applicant Commitments
The university requires applicants to make several commitments, including adhering to specified deadlines, ensuring the accuracy of submitted information and documents, and complying with applicable financial and disciplinary regulations and undertakings.
Applicants must also declare any citizenships they hold and undertake to pay any costs and fees due if they are dismissed, withdraw, or discontinue their studies.
The commitments also include serving after graduation for approximately 10 years for graduates of the technical institutes and 15 years for graduates of the colleges.
Applicants must pass several stages of the registration process, including document verification, a medical examination, an English language test, a computer skills test, an intelligence quotient, IQ, test, and a personal interview.
The university said only applicants who pass the admission competition and meet the approved enrollment requirements will be allowed to list the Syrian University for Security Sciences as a preference on the general admissions form to be issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
It added that no registration application will be considered valid unless the applicant has successfully passed the required admission competition. Submitting an application does not constitute final acceptance and does not necessarily mean the applicant will be summoned or nominated for any subsequent stage.
Applications are scheduled to close on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
