The Israeli army announced that its forces carried out simultaneous raids on four locations in Quneitra province in southern Syria.
Avichay Adraee, the Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli army, stated on Sunday, August 3, via his account on X , that Israeli forces seized weapons in southern Syria.
He confirmed that overnight, Israeli forces, in cooperation with field investigators, conducted operations to interrogate several individuals suspected of arms trafficking in the village of Hadar in Quneitra.
Adraee added that Israeli forces are deployed on the ground to prevent what he called “terrorist elements” from establishing a presence on the Syrian border and to protect “Israeli citizens.”
There has been no official Syrian statement regarding the repeated Israeli incursions into Quneitra or its military operations in Quneitra and Mount Hermon. An official Syrian security source merely told state-run al-Ikhbariyah TV on July 30 that there had been “no new Israeli deployments” in Daraa or Quneitra.
On Saturday, August 2, Israeli forces advanced along the road to the town of Tranja in northern Quneitra.
A media activist from Quneitra, who requested anonymity for security reasons, told Enab Baladi that an Israeli army patrol deployed its troops between Tranja and Hadar.
The patrol seized an unfinished house along the road connecting the two villages and turned it into a military base.
The patrol reinforced its presence with around 40 soldiers, and the Israeli army brought in military vehicles stationed near the seized house.
According to the activist, the house belongs to a resident of Tranja.
Following the seizure, Israeli forces warned civilians to stay away from the house and surrounding area, declaring it a closed military zone.
No civilians were arrested during the incursion or the establishment of the new military point.
Israeli Military Operations in Southern Syria
On July 6, the Israeli army announced a “preemptive” operation in Syria, during which it destroyed Syrian regime military posts in the Golan Heights region.
In a statement and accompanying video footage posted by Adraee on X, the army said that the 810th Brigade under the 210th Division had been conducting operations inside Syrian territory.
In one such operation, a reserve battalion from the brigade, working with the elite Yahalom Unit, dismantled several military outposts belonging to the former Syrian regime near the summit of Mount Hermon.
These outposts were positioned along the front line with Syria and were deemed a “direct threat” to Israeli positions on Mount Hermon, according to the Israeli army.
The statement emphasized that the purpose of the operation was to “protect the citizens of the State of Israel, especially the residents of the Golan Heights.
