A Special Opportunity for Syrian Women in Germany: Scholarship for Mobile Journalism

Enab Baladi announces the launch of the “Mares 17” scholarship, which focuses on mobile journalism and is aimed at young Syrian women in Germany who want to develop their skills in creating visual stories and publishing on social media.

What does the “Mares 17” Scholarship Offer?

“Mares 17” is a completely free training scholarship that includes intensive workshops, combining theoretical and practical aspects, allowing you to learn and apply simultaneously under the supervision of trainers in mobile journalism.

During the scholarship, you will learn the following skills:

  • Basics of Mobile Photography: Understand mobile photography techniques to achieve the best quality.
  • Script Creation and Writing: Learn the art of storytelling and how to turn your idea into a complete visual story.
  • Video Editing: Use tools and apps for mobile video editing to create professional videos.
  • Publishing on Social Media: Implement strategies for effectively publishing visual stories on social platforms to achieve the desired impact.

Details of the Scholarship

  • Total Duration: 10 days of training
  • Training Hours: 70 hours (50 hours of group training – 20 hours of individual practical assignments)
  • Location: Dortmund, Germany
  • Cost: The scholarship is free, including accommodation costs during the group training phases.

Schedule

The scholarship workshops are divided into three main phases:

  • Phase 1 (3 days of group training in Dortmund)
    Friday, Saturday, Sunday (November 22, 23, 24, 2024)
    This phase begins with basic workshops on mobile journalism, photography techniques, script creation, and using the fundamental tools of mobile devices.
  • Phase 2 (4 days of individual practical assignments in freely chosen locations)
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (November 25, 26, 27, 28, 2024)
    During these days, participants have the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned through individual practical assignments in locations of their choice. They will receive virtual instructions from trainers and regular support to answer their questions and enhance their work.
  • Phase 3 (3 days of concluding group training in Dortmund)
    Friday, Saturday, Sunday (November 29, 30, December 1, 2024)
    In this phase, participants will present their individual projects and receive feedback from trainers and peers. They will attend advanced editing workshops to refine their final videos and make final adjustments before certificates are awarded and achievements are celebrated.
