On Saturday, October 12, Syrian regime forces shelled villages and towns in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib with heavy artillery and suicide drones.
A reporter for Enab Baladi in Aleppo stated that regime forces targeted two civilian vehicles with anti-tank missiles (ATGM) at the Della roundabout east of Darat Izza, along with shelling the outskirts of the village of Kafr Nouran west of Aleppo with mortars, with no reports of injuries.
The reporter added that a suicide drone targeted civilians in the village of Tadil west of Aleppo.
A Russian operational aircraft (Antonov N30) was reported to have flown today over the southern and northern Idlib countryside and western Aleppo, according to the reporter, gathering a bank of targets and performing topographic surveying.
The Syria Civil Defence documented regime shelling today in the village of Majdaliya and its outskirts in southern Idlib, indicating that its teams inspected the targeted areas and confirmed that no injuries occurred.
In addition, a 15-year-old boy was injured in his back this morning due to a missile attack from areas controlled jointly by regime forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), targeting agricultural land in the village of al-Baldaq in eastern Aleppo while the boy was helping his family work in the farm, according to the Syria Civil Defence.
For its part, the local Al-Watan newspaper, which is close to the regime, reported that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which controls Idlib, launched artillery shells towards government force positions in Brigade 46 and the vicinity of the towns of Orm al-Sughra, Orm al-Kubra, and Anjarah west of Aleppo on Friday, October 11.
Al-Watan stated that government forces targeted the vicinity of the towns of Taqad, Makbils, Kafr Ammah, Kafr Taal, al-Qasr, and al-Atarib in Aleppo countryside with artillery.
Recently, regime forces have escalated their shelling of villages and towns in northwestern Syria, particularly those near the contact lines.
The intensity of the attacks by regime government forces and their allies has increased in recent days, amidst warnings from military observatories to disperse gatherings and remain vigilant, as positions held by Lebanese Hezbollah and regime forces have repeatedly targeted the countryside of Idlib, especially from the village of Talhiah east of Idlib, coinciding with intensified Israeli attacks in Lebanon.
Since the beginning of 2024 until mid-September, Syria Civil Defence teams responded to 665 attacks by regime forces, Russia, and their allied forces in northwestern Syria.
These attacks resulted in the deaths of 54 civilians, including 15 children and six women, and injured 246 civilians, including 96 children and 29 women.
