The “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” executed people on charges of belonging to the “Islamic State” (ISIS) in the southern countryside of Aleppo.
On Thursday (20 September), the “Tahrir al-Sham” affiliated news agency “Ebaa” has posted pictures of the execution, meted out to five people accused of belonging to the “Islamic State,” according to the security office of “Tahrir al-Sham”.
The agency reported that the execution was attended the relatives of civilians who were killed by troops accused of belonging to the “Islamic State”.
It quoted the security official “Sulaiman al-Halabi” as saying that the troops admitted belonging to “ISIS” and the killing of leaders and troops of the “Elite Army” under “Tahrir al-Sham.”
Since last June, the “Tahrir al-Sham” has waged a campaign against positions of the “Islamic State” affiliate cells in Idlib and its countryside, resulting in the arrest and execution of a number of troops.
In the past a few months, Idlib governorate witnessed a state of rampant insecurity, which led to murders and kidnappings of civilians, including women.
The execution coincided with a similar incident carried out by the “Tahrir al-Sham” against a person in the city of Tell Mannas in rural Idlib, whom it accused of conspiracy with the Syrian regime.
The “Tahrir al-Sham” accused the “Islamic State” cells of being behind the state of security chaos and launched a campaign against them in several areas, targeting the cells’ posts, the last of which was conducted at the city of Sarmin, which “Tahrir al-Sham” had full control over on June 30.
In a former interview with Enab Baladi, Emad Eddin Mujahid, director of media relations at “Tahrir al-Sham,” said that “ISIS” follows the strategy of “security war” in Idlib governorate, after its presence was completely annihilated at the fronts of rural Hama.
He added that the current strategy includes the preparation of dozens of sleeper cells to launch killings and kidnapping operation and “to spread corruption in the liberated northern Syria.”
