Flights from Damascus to the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Efforts are underway to increase the number of flights pending the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities.
On April 14, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority announced the resumption of flights between the UAE and Syria.
The UAE news agency (WAM) reported, based on a press release from the authority, that joint coordination is currently taking place to complete the necessary procedures for resuming flights between the two countries, enhancing air traffic, and supporting passenger and cargo flow between them.
On the same day, the head of the Syrian General Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, Ashhad al-Salibi, met with his Emirati counterpart, Saif al-Suwaidi, on the sidelines of the ICAO Facilitation Conference 2025 held in Doha.
During the meeting, ways to enhance cooperation in the field of civil aviation between the two countries were discussed, according to the official Syrian news agency (SANA).
This step came just one day after the visit of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to Abu Dhabi, where he met with his Emirati counterpart, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who expressed his country’s support for Syria and its people in the upcoming period. During their meeting, the Syrian president was told that the stability of Syria and strengthening its security is in the interest of the entire region, reiterating his country’s position in supporting the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Syria.
The UAE news agency stated that the Emirati president discussed with his Syrian counterpart the fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen their joint cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
The UAE is considered the second Gulf stop in the record of the Syrian president’s foreign visits since he assumed power last January.
